As Resident Medical Officer, I am responsible for the following roles including but not limited to - o Overseeing and handling Acute Medical Admissions: ▪ Responsible for documenting comprehensive history and physical examinations. ▪ Ensuring adherence to the hospital admissions protocol. o Clinical Assessment and Management of patients: ▪ Assess, review, and document clinical findings as requested by attending consultants. Independently manage patients and working towards stabilisation of critically ill patients. ▪ Work collaboratively with consultants to compile thorough workups for patients. o Procedure Coverage: ▪ Provide clinical cover for various departmental procedures. ▪ Ensure seamless coordination and execution of interventions in designated departments. o Medication Management: ▪ Prescribe medications for patients based on consultant directives. ▪ Collaborate with senior consultants and resident physicians to tailor medication plans for admitted patients. o Emergency Response: ▪ Swiftly respond to emergency situations within the Intensive Therapy Unit. ▪ Actively participate in ward rounds, contributing to decision-making and patient care plans. o Patient Reviews: ▪ Conduct daily reviews on Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients, gathering and presenting comprehensive findings. ▪ Contribute to Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) ward rounds with valuable insights and updates. o Critical Care Outside ICU: ▪ Extend expertise to critically unwell patients outside the traditional ICU setting. ▪ Formulate initial management plans for critically unwell adults in diverse healthcare scenarios. o Training Support: ▪ Actively support the learning and development of the critical care team, including undergraduate members. ▪ Share knowledge and experience to foster a collaborative and educational environment. o Governance and Improvement: ▪ Engage in clinical governance initiatives to uphold and enhance healthcare standards. ▪ Contribute to ongoing quality improvement projects within the Intensive Therapy Unit. o Skill Development: ▪ Set individual development goals to enhance professional skills. ▪ Maximize opportunities for securing a training post through continuous improvement and skill refinement. Procedural Competence: During said tenure, observed, assisted, performed under supervision, and independently conducted a wide range of critical care procedures, including but not limited to: • Airway & Ventilatory Management: 1. Laryngoscopy (Direct and Video) and endotracheal intubation 2. Non-invasive and mechanical ventilation management 3.
